Spreading the Gospel

There are lots of ways to spread the gospel. Throughout the history of modern evangelicalism we’ve often thought the best way is to hold an event that people would enjoy coming to and then tell them about Christ. But what if you weren’t allow to share your faith or you weren’t allow to invite people to church? The people of God would have to go underground and spread the word through personal relationships. I just returned from Asia where I was able to witness the many different ways the church is spreading the word of God. One way is through leadership development. I know it’s kinda surprising but people want to become leaders and they understand that leadership is comprised of ethical issues. These issues allow us to talk about character and the source of character, God himself. In many countries leadership development can be a powerful tool to reach those that don’t know God and don’t care about God. I have also witnessed first hand how Campus Crusade has used the LeaderTreks program in South America to reach university students. In fact, two years ago 600 students made first time decisions for Jesus through a LeaderTreks leadership program.

So how do you think about leadership development? Is it just for your “get it” students or could you be using leadership development to reach some of the toughest students in your youth ministry?
