Parent Partnership

By Doug Franklin January 6, 2011

A small groups leader’s greatest tool is a partnership with a parent. Parents are the primary faith influencers in the student’s life, so if you want to make a spiritual impact, you better have a partnership with Mom and Dad. Many of you may think the parents don’t care, but that doesn’t change anything in my mind. If they don’t care, engage them anyway you can, minister to them and still keep them front and center in the spiritual development of their students. Even if you have to take them kicking and screaming. I say this because we all know that family ministry has more impact than one-on-one ministry with a student. If we don’t reach the parents who is going to be there in three years? Let’s all commit to spending more training time equipping our adult small group leaders on how to partner with parents. The pay out could be huge.
