Hurting Youth Workers
My new book on sr. pastors and youth pastors relationships comes out today. It’s a fun day to celebrate the book but it’s also hard day for me when I think about how many youth pastors are hurting on this subject. There was a youth worker in my office today telling me about how their sr. pastor doesn’t care if the youth ministry lives or dies. I don’t want to come down on sr. pastors because many of them are doing a great job but I hear too many stories of youth workers who don’t have any connection with their sr. pastor. What I don’t really get is how this is happening. Weren’t these sr. pastors youth pastors a few years ago? Weren’t they mis-treated? Have they forgotten or do they think it’s OK to treat younger brothers and sisters this way? I also wonder why famous sr. pastors don’t ever speak out about how their peers should treat their co-laborers? Makes you wonder doesn’t it?
