Early Warning System

By Doug Franklin May 6, 2010

Leaders see problems first. From maintenance issues to ministry mishaps leaders, are always the ones who know there is a problem before everyone else. As leaders we often think about how the engine of the organization is running – we want it smooth. When the engine starts to misfire we hear the knocking sound, we sense the problem and we are ready to act. This is what separates leaders from managers; the ability to act. As a leader of an organization I ask  myself the following questions on a regular basis:

1. What is our greatest need?

2. Are staff motivated or unmotivated and why?

3. Where in the organization are we acting the same of we did three years ago?
(If I find a place in the organization where we have not changed in three years – I look to make changes)

4. Where are we making cuts more often than growing revenue?

5. Are we following the vision that God has given us?
