Dealing with Past Mistakes
We often inherit the sins of the youth pastors before us. Sometimes those sins are huge (I am not saying one sin is large than another), the kind of sin that ruins a life. Other times those sins are small but the church doesn’t want the new yp to repeat them. We need to be aware of these past sins because they create traps we don’t know about. We often fall into this traps and don’t know why or how we got there. When you are the new guy or gal at a church, get some folks you trust who can talk you through the past sins. You don’t have to get personal or bash the past yp, but understand what the folks are concerned about and avoid the traps – you will be happy you did.
