The Value of Off-Site Meetings
Today I am taking my team to Eagle Ridge, a beautiful vacation area three hours from Wheaton. I use off-site meetings to create team unity and momentum for the coming ministry year. I also do these three day retreats in order to demonstrate value to my staff. I believe our people want to be part of the vision of LeaderTreks. They want to invest with new ideas and ways to improve our current systems. They also want to know what I am thinking and how I am planning for the future. When I share the vision for the future they have the opportunity to own it by offering additional ideas and creative thinking to enhance the growth of the organization.
I know times are tough and everyone is trying to save a buck, but be careful about being so quick to cut the off-site meeting. Off-sites are more than long meetings; they are an opportunity for your team to invest in the organization and for you to demonstrate how much you value them.
